The cry of God’s heart is that worship would arise. As I went to pray one day, I was listening to a Jason Upton song called, Freedom. It was prophesying and declaring freedom to God’s people to worship, dance, and grow and it called for all those things in opposition to move out of God’s way. It absolutely broke me as I sang and declared it because I could feel the heart of God longing for worship, true worship. I began to pray for our church that we would be the true worshippers that God desires and I read John 4:20-23 (the story of the woman at the well): “Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, but you Jews claim that the place where we must worship is in Jerusalem.” 21Jesus declared, “Believe me, woman, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. 22You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. 23Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. 24God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.” * In the name of Jesus, let the debating stop of “this mountain or that mountain,” that style or this style, old or new, hymns or choruses, and let worship, true worship arise! If we are to be the worship center that God has called this city to be, it will have to be more than our church worshipping. It will be a whole city full of churches worshipping! Let it touch your heart today that our Father is seeking true worshippers to worship Him in Spirit and in truth. God said, “If your worship is revived, your hearts will be revived.” This is a year of true worship being revived and renewed. Let it arise from the four corners of this city and may His name be exalted to the ends of the earth! Hallelujah!
