She Was My Friend: A Mother's Day Tributeby Meghan Hohenthaner She was my friend When others had forsaken me She listened And held me when I cried. Often, our tears melted Together And I could sense the Love and compassion in her heart Even in her anger and disappointment She was never angry long And soon our frustrations Melted into joy. She was the constant exemplar Of faith and strength Despite obstacles Despite attacks She stood as a pillar She was soft But beneath the exterior Laid a rock She was unwavering And I knew that I had no reason to fear And if I was afraid I knew she would shelter and comfort me. Her love for God Poured over me And it was through Her guidance That I learned to walk in faith. She taught me how to live And how to follow God’s direction I am who I am today Because of who she is Because of what she stands for She is A Friend A leader A rock An instrument of God My mother |
