Inspiration

The Way to a Great Life

by Daymond Geary

Have you ever seen someone that lived life so well that you wanted to be like them? In today’s society we have books on how different people achieved personal success, from investing in real-estate without a down payment to becoming a powerful CEO or rearing successful kids.  With so much information we should all be extremely successful, running our own companies, owning numerous properties,  and having millionaire children.

The problem is that we don’t hear the rest of the story from some of these success writers. Some sequels would be titled, CEO to the World subtitled, A Jerk to My Family. Maybe another book sequel would be titled, Rich but Empty subtitled, A fathers Cry for His Children.  There are few that find someone worth emulating and following for a life span of time.  Everyone seems to have a skeleton in their closet.

A group of men watched one among them live with purpose and a passion that was infectious. At age thirty this young man maintained an extraordinary lifestyle. He was charismatic, compassionate, personable, and powerful. Everyday was lived with intensity of purpose, yet with an attitude of leisure that made others feel that he was always available.  He was a Holy Man that never made an attempt to favor the churched over the unchurched. His life caused the greedy to want to give back what they had taken wrongfully. After watching this man live such a great life, those closest to him observed that he was a man of prayer. One day they asked Him to teach them to pray. This great leader, Jesus, responded, “pray like this; our father which is in heaven, holy is your name, your kingdom come your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive others. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil; yours is the kingdom and the power forever and forever, Amen!”

If you want an extraordinary life you must learn to pray and not just repeat a prayer but understand the principles. First God wants to be a father to us all, our father in heaven. He desires a relationship like any father to a son or daughter. Next Jesus taught us that we are to give praise to our heavenly father, holy (or uncommon) is your name. Prayer goes beyond our needs and reaches to our city, country, and nations. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. It needs to be a daily occurrence, give us today our daily bread.  Every day must have a fresh start or a clean slate for us and for others. Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive others. Evil and temptation are a present threat to us which requires the help of God to win the battle, lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. We then acknowledge the power of God and His role of leadership in all things– Yours is the kingdom and the power forever and forever.  Amen!  Pray, you saints!  It will make your lives an extraordinary adventure.
