Touching Lives (part 1)Recently, I had the wonderful opportunity to have dinner with a young man whom God had given into our hands many years ago to shepherd. He is now married and loving on and living for God. As I watched how he interacted with his beautiful wife, listened as he talked about his life, where God had taken him, where he is now, and what he believes God has for their future, I couldn't help but rejoice in my heart. I had the awesome responsibility for about five years to watch over, nurture, guide, and speak into this precious life. To know that God used me to help shape this life absolutely blows me away! He is an awesome man of God and I had something to do with it! So many times we think that what we do for God is somehow so trivial or insignificant. The lives we touch everyday are not by chance and should not be taken lightly or frivolously y. God has assigned each one of us to certain lives. Those I can touch, you may not be able to and vice versa. Those whom He has picked out just for you, reach out and release to them with all your might. Those lives depend on it. As parents, we sometimes become bewildered and frustrated, wanting to throw up our hands in disgust as our children struggle through their growing pains. We would rather not deal with all of the "stuff" that has to be dealt with as they go from newborn to toddler to preschool, kindergarten, elementary school, middle school and even those dreaded high school years. Discipline, correction, steering, directing, and loving are all a part of rearing children and reaching people. It's called life. With God’s help, there is no reason we should despair or throw in the towel. We may get bogged down sometimes in the everyday, but it is in the everyday that we see God touching lives through us. Do not wait for that elusive “right time,” but realize that your mundane, boring days can be filled with God’s power if we open ourselves to His voice and follow through with what God has already placed inside you. Part 2 of this article will go deeper into this vital part of our existence, which is to give and receive the divine touch of our God from one another. Make that first step today by telling God, “I don’t want to live my own life anymore. I want you to touch lives everywhere I go.” (Go to Touching Lives- Part 2) |
